1984 Hot gas generator with heat recovery through furnace walls

Cornel. Schmidt GmbH & Co KG, Leverkusen, Germany was known as a prime supplier of components for boiler suppliers. The product portfolio includes combustion plant such as under stoker grates, reciprocating- and travelling grates with a thermal capacity of 1 – 80 MW. Many other components for boilers, such as air- and flue gas fans, cyclones, bag house filters as well as mechanical conveyors and dosing equipment were also delivered. Cast iron boiler fittings and access doors complimented the product range.

From 1984, also turnkey energy plants were built, especially hot gas generators for the wood panel industry, but also pyrolysis incinerators for medical waste or fluidised bed combustion units for difficult fuels. Furthermore a system was developed where the furnace walls of the hot gas generators were made from fined tubes membrane walls to heat thermal oil or hot water for the wood panel presses. With this system an especially economic combined energy for the wood panel industry was introduced.

The picture shows a hot gas generator with integrated hot water heating through the furnace walls. This plant was built turnkey at the Kronospan factory in Sandebeck in 1984 and is still in operation today.

Dipl Ing, Michael Kaden was managing director of Cornel Schmidt GmbH & Co KG during the times when these new technologies were introduced into the market.
